A week ago tomorrow, I stopped running and missed six consecutive training days, whether running or lifting. My Garmin has graciously left me at a VO2 max of 40.

This morning, my Garmin turned on me and announced that I was Detraining. The dig is subtle. My detraining is starting to affect my training status, an innocuous euphemism for the all-important VO2 max.

So, despite a low body battery, I dragged myself out there for a four-mile run. It was breezy, sunny, 66 degrees, and I had a pleasant run despite low energy.

I've trashed my body battery. So, why do I feel better than I've felt all day?
