I returned to running in the fall of 2004. I started running with my first Garmin on January 1, 2013. This allowed me to know my running time and distance accurately. Additionally, Garmin stored this data automatically for me.

In 2018, I had my first strained calf muscle, which knocked me out of running for several months. I ran the 2019 Marine Corps Marathon under adverse weather conditions and had a poor finish time. In 2020, I strained the calf again, and my recovery lasted into 2021. That year, I put on ten pounds.

In May 2021, my Concept 2 arrived after waiting for it for roughly six months. But my running rhythm had been disrupted, and 2022 was an all-time low for me. I also failed to drop my weight from 2021.

In 2023, I scratched together 750 miles. I did no upper body strength training to let my shoulder impingement syndrome heal.

2023 is over now. I now look forward to 2024. I want to run another marathon this year. It will be my eleventh marathon. I also want to run my first ultra, maybe a 50K, sometime this summer.

We'll see.
